The Board of the Credit Ombudsman Service Limited (COSL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Thomas Beregi as the new non-executive industry director of the company, effective 13 December 2013.
Mr Beregi is the Chief Executive Officer of the ASX-listed financial services company, Credit Corp Group Limited (Credit Corp), and has held that position since March 2008.
Mr Beregi is committed to ensuring that Credit Corp is a highly ethical and responsible operator in its segment of the financial services market.
Prior to joining Credit Corp, Mr Beregi was the Chief Operating Officer of real estate services firm, Jones Lang LaSalle Australia. He has previously held senior finance and operational positions with multi-national consumer goods companies Diageo plc and PepsiCo Inc. Mr Beregi holds degrees in Economics and Law and is a Certified Practising Accountant.
COSL Chairman Mr Mark Scanlon congratulated Mr Beregi on his appointment and noted: “Mr Beregi is exceptionally well-qualified for the appointment as COSL's new industry director given his knowledge and expertise in the area of financial services generally.”
Mr Scanlon continued: “His acknowledged experience in an area of consumer credit which COSL has significant exposure to will contribute to the effectiveness of COSL's work in this area. I look forward to working with Mr Beregi in continuing to develop COSL as a leading external dispute resolution scheme,” Mr Scanlon said.
“Mr Beregi replaces Mr Jon Denovan who retired from the Board this month. Mr Denovan has been a non-executive director of COSL since 2004 and is responsible for many of its significant achievements over the years. My Board, staff and I are indebted to him for his considerable input into the development and continued growth of COSL in the last nine years,” continued Mr Scanlon.
